March is National Craft Month!

March is National Craft Month!  An entire MONTH dedicated to crafts!  I love it!  And since St Patrick’s Day is also in March, I decided green was the color to focus on.

One of my newfound favorite thinlits is the Window Bow Thinlet.  It makes a very handy and beautiful little box.  You need to cut two pieces of the box in order to make a full box.

Once you’ve cut the box pieces and before you put the box together, you can do a many different things in order to spruce up your box.  In this first box I cut pieces of DSP in 1-5/8” squares and adhered them to the sides.  In this example I chose DSP from the Bubbles & Fizz as well as the Coffee Break.  I also took a 1-1/2” x 12” piece of DSP from the Coffee Break (actually used the other side of the piece from the sides) and created a rosette.  I added a snowflake (yes they are retired, but I don’t have the small doilies yet), and a box using the Bow Builder Punch.

Of course, I couldn’t just stop at one box!  I had to make two (and may be making more as soon as I post this).  This one I decided to use some of the other thinlits that come in the group.
I also decided to play with ribbon this time.  And again, not just one!  I used my Light Old Olive Blends pen and colored some of the ¼” organza ribbon – I love that we can do this and make any color ribbon we’d like!! I also used the Dark Daffodil Delight Blends pen and colored some of the 1/8” Whisper White Sheer Ribbon.  Added in some of the Old Olive 1/8” Sheer Ribbon and tied them all together to make a bow.
This one also needed a little pizzaz to go with the beautiful cutouts so I added a Daisy and Dragonfly to the top.

This is one versatile box!  My mind is racing with all the possibilities!  I’d love to hear what you have made with it!

First Paper Pumpkin Club

This past Saturday was my first Paper Pumpkin Club.  It was a really fun event!

It was a small class, with just two people, but we were able to really spread out on the table!  My favorite sister Teresa and my new friend Barb attended.  It really was a great time!  Together we worked on our kits the way they came in the box as well as coming up with some fun alternatives.

We did find that the letters didn’t show up as well with the beautiful floral print paper behind them.  So we tried adding Garden Green cardstock like on this card.

You will also notice on this card that I used the new Basket Weave Embossing Folder.  I think it gave it some great texture!

I have posted other pictures of the cards that were created on my Facebook page.  You can also find my monthly Paper Pumpkin Club listed on my Facebook page as well as here under my Events.

March is a great time to join Paper Pumpkin!  This is Paper Pumpkins 5 year anniversary! In the March kit, Stampin’ UP! will have a special gift for all subscribers – I’m really looking forward to it!
